Guiding Growth with Strategy

To make my innovation plan work—bringing iPads, microphone clips, and the TonalEnergy app into the band program—I created strategies that motivate my students, help them feel comfortable with the Tonal Energy app, and feel supported by their classmates and directors. For our stakeholders the key behaviors are supporting the funding request and seeing the value in student growth through technology. The Six Sources of Influence framework helped me develop a personal, social, and structural strategy to support the addition of new technology to our rehearsals and performances. When we align motivation and ability in each area, students feel confident and supported in using technology in rehearsal every day. Change is never easy, but with a clear strategy, we can guide students, teachers, and leaders through the process in a way that builds confidence and celebrates progress.
